Madison Burns - Environmental Action Scholarship Winner
Meet Madison Burns, the winner of the Butterfly Ridge Environmental Action Scholarship for 2022. Madison graduated from Logan-Hocking High School in May and has already earned half of her credits to graduate from the Hocking College School of Natural Resources! Madison hopes to go into Wildlife Rehabilitation in the future.
Not only is Madison our scholarship winner, but she has also been an intern for us this summer. By the way, we had already selected her as our scholarship winner before she even applied for an internship! If you have visited Butterfly Ridge since June, then you have seen her work. Madison was one of the key people in the construction of the new bridge in the South Woods and also helped anchor down the roof to the Secret Garden cabin. Speaking of the cabin, if you have played with the homemade chess and checker game in the cabin, you have Madison to thank for those.
And if you have enjoyed walking on our wonderfully mulched trails, you have Madison to thank for that as well as she secured a donation of wood chips from Davey Tree. She has been a true blessing for Butterfly Ridge!
She left us a couple weeks early prior to school starting so that she could work on remodeling her home. Yes, this hard-working young lady is already a homeowner! We wish her the best, not only with her remodeling, but with her future wildlife rehab career.
